About Emma White - Jewellery Designer, Maker, Storyteller, Teacher.

Hi, I’m Emma, and I’ve been working in the jewellery trade for over 20 years. I’m absolutely crazy about all things jewellery – I love to wear it, make it, buy it, and sell it. While I appreciate all styles, I’m especially passionate about handmade, unusual jewellery designed with love and attention to detail.

And yes – that was me on the telly!

In 2022, I competed on All That Glitters, the BBC2 talent/competition show hosted by the brilliant Katherine Ryan. It was an amazing experience – I made it all the way to the final and even won both challenges in the last episode. I narrowly missed out on being crowned ‘Britain’s Next Jewellery Star,’ but the experience was unforgettable and pushed me to grow even more as a designer.

My love for jewellery started when I was a child, watching my glamorous mum getting ready for a night out – finishing her look with sparkly jewellery. I come from a long line of strong women: the kind who knock down walls, carry the family load, and still wear lipstick. That strength and femininity are woven into everything I do – it’s a big part of my identity and my work.

I’m originally from Scotland, but I now live and work in the village of Farsley in West Leeds. I’m a jewellery designer, maker, and teacher, and I run my business from a beautiful, purpose-built studio at Sunny Bank Mills – a historic site now home to a thriving creative community. My studio is fully equipped for making and teaching, with dark grey walls, bare brick, rustic wood and brass accents, and even some of my own paintings on the walls. It’s a space that perfectly reflects who I am – practical, stylish, and full of creative energy.

My jewellery is deeply personal. I’m an empathetic and emotional over-thinker, and every piece I create is full of meaning and feeling. I’m inspired by life’s journey – the people, moments, and emotions that shape who we are. That depth is what sets my work apart – not just as a designer, but also as a storyteller.

Some of my most popular collections grew from the key pieces I made during All That Glitters. These include:

– silver hands inspired by the protective symbolism of Fatima’s hand, holding a heart to represent the love within a family.

– the YES/NO spinner ring, designed to represent decision-making and the beauty of letting fate take the lead.

– featuring the peacock single statement earring, symbolising eternal love and inspired by a dear friend’s loss of her mum.

Shaun Leane once nicknamed me The Storyteller, and it’s a name that stuck. I’ve always loved telling stories – whether through my jewellery, my teaching, or just in conversation. I’m a mum of three, and a stepmum to three more, and I’ve got stories for days – about motherhood, family life, business, creativity, and everything in between. You might even hear me on local radio or podcasts, chatting about the messy, beautiful reality of juggling it all.

As a teacher, I’m enthusiastic, skilled, and passionate about helping others discover the joy of jewellery making. With a small team of experienced tutors, I run classes and workshops for all levels from my studio. If you’re curious, take a look at our upcoming courses – we’d love to have you.
