Design tweaks
If you like one of my pieces but would like for it to be adapted, for example an extra feature, a change in materials or a gemstone added, this can be a really lovely way to make one of my designs personal to you. This will mean we will have to revisit the price of it to see if there is any additional work or costs involved so please allow extra time for this process. It takes us about 1-2 weeks to get your quote together and the making process might also be a little longer than usual, so bear this in mind. Always let us know if you have a deadline and we can advise you and will always try to meet your deadline wherever possible.
I know what I want!
If you have an idea, and want me to make it for you, I am very happy to have a look at your sketches and give you some advice. I will let you know if it is something I can take on for you, if it’s not something in my aesthetic or skill base I will advise you if I know of someone else who might be able to help. If it is something I can help you with, then simpler designs can be quicker than the fully bespoke process, please feel free to email me your idea.
Bespoke jewellery, designed and made for you.
Bespoke jewellery is a different sort of beast altogether, which involves a much more in depth process. It can take time to design something for you, to meet, to work out a rough idea and then progress down the line to drawings or a CAD (computer aided design) to work from and enable you to approve the final design. Rough sketches are included in the cost of the commission and are part of the initial conversation, but detailed drawings/paintings or CAD work is chargeable, usually around £250-300 per piece. You may not feel the need for this which is fine, if we are both happy to move forward with the rough sketches. Once we have a final design I can finalise your quote.
Our quotes include all of our materials, consultation time, rough design sketches, hallmarking, luxury packaging and postage if required, to you. We are currently have a waiting list for commission work, so once we get to the final quote stage and you have paid your deposit, we will order your materials and then the job will go in a queue in the order that the deposits are paid. When your job gets to the front of the queue, it will have my full attention and the turnaround time can then be as short as 3-4 months, please allow time for the bespoke process.
As a very rough guide; my one off commission prices start at £1000, depending on the complexity of the design. Our average commissions come in between £2,000 - £6,000, so prices vary enormously depending on the design. The price of gold is at an all time high, and is volatile for a number of factors, so our final quotes are currently valid for only a couple of weeks.
Once I have the final go ahead on a commission piece, I ask for 50% deposit and then I can get on with making your piece for you! The final payment is due on completion, then I post out or you can collect from the workshop in Farsley, West Leeds.
I have my own materials - can you use it?
YES! If you have heirloom gold, it can significantly reduce the cost of your piece. The price of gold is significant and makes up a good chunk of our quote. If you have excess gold we can even buy the leftovers back and offset it against the rest of your quote. There is a cost to the time it takes for refining your old jewellery into something we can use, so if you only have a tiny amount, it may not make financial sense, but sometimes the sentimental value is more important and worth paying for and we are happy to advise you; please feel free to ask.
Silver can also be recycled, though the time it takes to refine it, and the relating cost of that time usually outweighs the saving on the raw materials, meaning to use old silver is often more expensive than using new. Again sometimes the emotional value of using your sentimental silver is worth paying for but from a financial point of view, it doesn’t usually save you money.
